Long, 72 points More, from a press release issued by Pirelli: Pirelli Racers May and Barnes Crowd the Top of Supersport Podium Pirelli demonstrated its performance heritage by taking second and third in the hotly contested AMA Supersport race at Virginia International Raceway. M4 EMGO Suzuki teammates Geoff May and Michael Barnes stood on either side of race winner Jamie Hacking, after a tightly contested, race-long battle for the lead. May and Barnes were in a train with Hacking throughout the race, with May taking the lead in turn one a couple of times. Having an advantage both on the throttle and on the brakes showed off the incomparable traction of the Pirelli SuperCorsa Pros mounted on each end of May’s Suzuki. Before taking the lead, May had to fight his way up from fourth place. At the checkered flag May was merely 1.7 seconds behind the race winner, having been finally interrupted in his attempts to pass for the lead by racers being lapped. This was Pirelli’s second double podium of the year in the AMA Superbike series, made more remarkable by the few number of teams that understand that “power is nothing without control”. In Sunday’s Superbike Race Two, Millennium KWS Suzuki racer Matt Lynn felt as though he was on the podium by finishing 9th, as the second-placed privateer. A few spaces behind Lynn was Cory West, another privateer on Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks. The Superstock race at VIR saw Geoff May finish seventh on his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R1000, with Matt Lynn taking a close eighth on his Millennium KWS Suzuki GSX-R1000. Other Pirelli riders using the Diablo Superbike Slicks in the Superstock top 15 include Chris Ulrich in 12th, John Haner in 13th, and Cory West in 14th, with Ulrich’s Roadracingworld.com teammate Roberto Pietri taking 16th. More, from a press release issued by Celtic Racing: Celtic Racing in the Top Dozen at VIR Celtic Racing’s Alastair Seeley finished 12th in both the Supersport 600 and the Formula Xtreme races at this weekend’s AMA Superbike Championship meeting at Virginia International Raceway. Seeley finished 12th in Saturday’s Formula Xtreme race before repeating the result in Sunday’s Supersport race, during which he joined the elite list of 600 riders who have lapped the circuit at under 1:30. Seeley did a 1:29.9 on the team’s Pirelli shod Yamaha R6. Seeley had qualified 15th for both races. Considering it was Seeley’s first visit to the very technical circuit, many seasoned observers were impressed by the circuit newcomer’s results.
