Ochs, McFadden, and Hancock win at Putnam Park Mt Meridian IN: The USGPRU National Championship Final was held this year at the Putnam Park road course in Mt Meridian, IN. The track is nestled amongst the corn fields of Indiana in a picturesque setting of rolling hills of green grass and white horse fences. The weather was nearly perfect for racing as the temperatures remained in the low 80’s without a cloud in sight. In the Pilot Moto3 race, Andre Ochs had his hands full with local fast guy, Palmer Kling. The two racers battled back and forth for the lead the entire race, but Andre Ochs was able to pull out a small gap on the last lap to take the win. Third place went to Max Flinders on his hot-rod Moriwaki. The National Championship chase was a close one too as Ochs narrowly bested Flinders by a mere 6 points. The REV’IT! Moriwaki MD250H Powered by HONDA class started out as a three way battle between Nick McFadden, Ben Truslow, and Max Flinders. On lap 3, Flinders cooked it into turn 10 and narrowly avoided a massive crash into the Airfence. He recovered, but the two front guys were able to put a little room between themselves and Flinders. Nick rode a fantastic race out front. Ben Truslow was not able to keep up and watched McFadden pull away at almost 1 second per lap. On the closing lap of the race, Casey Tobolewski caught up with Flinders, and made a last lap pass to clinch the third place on the podium. The National Championship was won by Xavier Zayat who wasn’t at the event as he was attending the Red Bull Rookie Cup tryouts in Spain. Adrian Jasso got a great start in the Moto Liberty / RS-Taichi 250GP race, but he didn’t get too far away from Andre Ochs, Robert Hancock, and Max Flinders. A few laps in, Flinders started to fade on his hot-rod Moriwaki, but Ochs and Hancock stuck to Jasso’s rear wheel. Ochs made a pass on Jasso, but both lost time while fighting, which allowed Hancock to out drive them and he double passed on his old Yamaha TZ250 to take the lead. He held onto that lead, and Jasso came across the line half a second later. Ochs rounded out the podium. Mad Max Flinders was fourth, which gave him enough points to clinch the 250GP National Championship for 2011. The USGPRU would like to congratulate all of the National Champions as well as all of the competitors that won their victories throughout the season.
