Hartl, Knapp, Odom, Toye Won Races At The WERA National Challenge Event At Miller

WERA MAY WRAP AND JUNE EVENTS Round #3 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT saw some of the best racing of the season. Mother Nature cooperated enough to keep us dry both days, but Saturday she made sure it was nice and cool for the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Teams. The Overall winners were Team Zyvax R1 with riders, Ben and Eric Bostrom and Chris Clark on their Yamaha 1000 second went to Team Zyvax R6 with riders Dane Westby, Clint Seller and Scott Russell on their Yamaha 600 third was Hooters/Apex Roadracing, with riders Tim Hunt, Skip Salenius and Billy Etheridge on a Suzuki 1000. Twenty-three teams took the grid for the 6 hour and with the exception of a red flag on the warm up lap for an unrelated racing matter, the race ran for a full 175 laps. Heavyweight Superbike was Team Zyvax R1; Hooters/Apex RoadRacing and TVR 131 (Yamaha 1000) with riders Chuck Ivey, Scott Brown and Jimmy Vanderhaar; Mediumweight Superbike was Team Zyvax R6; Hooters/Apex 2 (Suzuki 600) with Blake Jones, James Rispoli and Bryce Prince doing the riding; and Team Herrin Racing (Yanaha 600) with the young guns of Zach Herrin, Payton Sassaman and Benny Solis sharing riding duties. Lightweight Superbike results are Twin Works Factory 2 (Suzuki 650) with Everett Dittman, Zoran Vujasinovic and Jason Catching; second was Team Kinetic (Suzuki 650) with riders Rob Turner, Chris Parrish, Michael Wischmeyer and Luke Echols and third went to KDS Cycles (Suzuki 650) with Dustin O’Hara, Sean Black and Chris Boilleau sharing riding duties. The girls’ team of Stripper Glitter was the winners of the trophy class riding duties shared between Krystyna Kubran and Katie Carney on a Yamaha 1000. Sunday saw more sunshine and cool racing temps for the day. The Michelin/WERA National Sprints combined with the Pirelli/WERA West Regional Sprints presented by Lucas Oil and the Round #2 for the USBA for some good racing. Taylor Knapp took the win in the Open Superstock on his Ridersdiscount.com Suzuki 1000; in the 600 Superstock Race it was Tyler Odom taking the win on his Honda 600, followed by Jimmy Wood (Kaw 600) and Garrett Gerloff (Suz 600); 750 Superstock saw Knapp (Tri 675), followed by Charles Strong (Yam 600) and David A. Brown (Suz 750); the Formula 1/King of the Mountain Open was won by Jeremy Toye (BMW999) followed by Brant Wiwi (Suz 1000) and Gerry Signorelli (BMW 1000); Lex Hartl (Hon 125) took the win in the 125cc Class with Jayson Uribe (Hon 125) and Tyler Linders (OTH 250) to round out the top three; The WERA Superbike Class saw some good racing between winner Jeremy Toye (BMW 999) then Taylor Knapp (Suz 1000) and Gerry Signorelli (BMW 1000). Coming in June will be Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Regionals at: Roebling Road on June 5/6; Talladega Gran Prix and Summit Point Raceway June 12/13; BeaveRun on June 19/20 and then Road Atlanta on the 25/26/27 with the 25th being a practice day run by WERA Motorcycle Roadracing.
