Defending AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Champion Josh Hayes and Daytona SportBike competitor Josh Herrin will both race Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbikes for the factory team in the 2012 AMA Pro Superbike Championship. “Yes, both of those two guys will be on R1s,” Yamaha Racing Division Manager Keith McCarty confirmed to Roadracingworld.com Sunday at New Jersey Motorsports Park. “For me, Josh Hayes is a special person. He wanted an opportunity, and we gave him an opportunity and he’s delivered 100%, more than anybody could have ever thought. He’s just a really good guy. Anyone who knows him or ever worked with him will testify to that. We look for him to be the guy to help drive this team along. We appreciate what he’s doing and look forward to more. “And we have a lot of confidence in [Josh Herrin]. He has a ways to go as a rider developing. I think that he knows that we know that. We’re in it for the long haul with him. We’d like to help him achieve his goals in racing.”
