Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes tightened the Pro Honda Oils AMA Supersport Championship with a win on his Dunlop-shod CBR600RR Sunday at Road Atlanta. Hayes exchanged the lead with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking, the defending Champion, for most of the race, while Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas pursued closely in third. Roger Hayden, Hacking’s teammate and the Championship point leader coming into the race, got off to a slow start but caught up to the lead trio in time for a wild last lap through lapped traffic. Hayes held on to take the win (his fourth of the season) over Hacking, while Hayden was able to sneak by Cardenas to score third. Hayes’ victory pulls him to eight points behind Hacking, who is second in the Championship standings, and 11 points behind Hayden. There is one race left in the Championship with a maximum of 38 points up for grabs. 2007 Pro Honda Oils AMA Supersport Championship Presented by Shoei Helmets Road Atlanta Braselton, Georgia September 2, 2007 Provisional Race Results: 1.
