The location of the rally varies every time, but for 2011 it headed to the town of Barrie, just north of Toronto, Ontario. The Mad Bastard Rally is not just about completing the route within your allotted class time. Oh no, if you want to have a good crack at winning the main prize then you’re going to have to collect as many “mad” points along the way as you can. These points are awarded for various acts of madness, both set by the Rally staff and created by participants for being an imaginative (mad) bastard. www.madbastardrally.com www.cmgonline.com Don Emde, Publisher, Motorcycle Historian Emed is a well known publisher, historian and communication specialist in the motorcycle industry. He and his late father Floyd are the only father and son to have each won the Daytona 200. Floyd’s 1948 Daytona winning Indian Big Base Scout hangs over the door at the Daytona store of J&P Cycles. Emde plans to recreate the 1914 coast to coast ride of Erwin “Cannon Ball” Baker who completed the ride on an Indian Motorcyle of the period. Emde and Joe Colombero will recreate the ride on KTM990’s. CannonBallproject.com and is sponsored in part by Parts Unlimited and KTM. www.CannonballProject.com Rob Dingman, CEO and President – American Motorcyclist Association On Aug. 12, 2011 President Barack Obama signed into law H.R. 2715 that exempts youth ATVs and motorcycles from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008, known as the lead law. The CPSIA, which went into effect on Feb. 10, 2009, banned the making, importing, distributing or selling of any product intended for children 12 and under which contains more than a specified amount of lead in any accessible part that might be ingested. Youth off-road vehicles were caught in the crossfire. The new law is a victory that is the result of nearly three years of intensive efforts by the AMA and its partner organization, the All-Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVA), their members and millions of advocates of responsible OHV recreation. www.americanmotorcyclist.com Crew at Pit Pass Radio Scott Casber, Tony Wenck, Ed Kuhlenkamp, Jack DeLeon.
