Team Honda Racing 1-2-3 Heading into Swann Series Races Tomorrow
13 September 2014 – Another fantastic show of strength from Team Honda Racing today sees the Honda team line up 1-2-3 on the starting grid heading into the Swann Insurance Superbike races tomorrow at Wakefield Park for Round 5 of the Australasian Superbike Championship.
#17 Troy Herfoss recorded the fastest lap of the day, a 58.047 sec as he crossed the finish line for the final lap of Race 3, breaking the Superbike lap record for the second time today. Team mate #47 Wayne Maxwell will start tomorrow’s Swann Series races in P2 with his fastest lap time today just .025 sec behind Herfoss. Lining up in P3 tomorrow for Superbike Race 1 will be #27 Jamie Stauffer who recorded his fastest lap time of 58.242 sec in the second Superbike race today. Starting from P6 heading into tomorrow’s Swann Series will be #16 Josh Hook who recorded consistently strong lap times today in a very tight field, his fastest lap of the day a 58.698 sec.
Herfoss continues to display his prowess onboard the CBR1000RR SP going from strength to strength with each event. Race 1 today saw Herfoss begin his day by taking the race win and breaking the Superbike lap record for Wakefield Park, only to break the lap record again as he crossed the finish line in the final race of the day. Herfoss is very happy to be starting on Pole heading into tomorrow. “Today went really well and was a good lead-in to tomorrow’s Swann Insurance Championship races taking the Pole position at the end of the day. All the main players got solid laps in today so it’s looking like being a huge battle at the front of the field tomorrow. It is great to see all 4 Hondas at the pointy end of the field and to have a Honda 1-2-3 again. I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s races.”
Starting from P2 tomorrow, Maxwell is pleased with his day overall. “I didn’t have a great start to the day, but we recovered well and I am happy with a 3rd place in Race 2 and a race win in Race 3. P2 on the grid is a strong starting point tomorrow and it will clearly be another tough battle with my Team Honda Racing team mates for all 3 races. I’m looking forward to it.”
#27 Jamie Stauffer took the overall win for today’s FX-Superbike races with two 2nd places and a 3rd place. Currently placed 2nd in the Swann Series championship points, Stauffer is looking for maximum points in tomorrow’s races. “Today went quite well for me. We tried a couple of different settings in the bike today and our times were good. It isn’t going to be easy with Troy and Wayne so strong, but I’m ready for the battle and we’ll see what tomorrow’s races bring.”
Also keen to race tomorrow is #16 Josh Hook, saying “We struggled a bit with bike set-up today, but have been working hard with the team and I feel confident that we have found a strong direction for tomorrow’s races. I’m starting from P6 on the grid which is not bad and I am looking forward to racing.”
