Penultimate Championship Battle Begins

22nd Oct 2015 – Less than a week since departing Phillip Island after the Australian MotoGP event, Team Honda Racing is today assembling at Winton Raceway in preparation for Round 6 of the Australasian Superbike Championship.

The Honda duo of #3 Troy Herfoss and #2 Jamie Stauffer are ready to take on the competitive Superbike field this weekend onboard the CBR1000RR SP with Herfoss determined to increase his championship lead.

Currently, Herfoss has a 16-point lead in both the AFX and the Swann Insurance Superbike Championships and is ready to defend and increase that lead, saying “I feel good going into Round 6 at Winton Raceway. Having track time at the MotoGP event just last weekend was great although I didn’t come away with the Phillip Island Championship title. Coming 2nd by just 3 points was really frustrating, but more time on the bike is always a valuable thing and I can take what I learned from that event into this weekend’s races. The Honda is strong at Winton and although the field is very competitive I believe we can maintain our ASC Championship lead.”

Team mate Jamie Stauffer currently sits in 6th place in both championships and is looking for maximum points this weekend to improve his standings. “Going into Round 6 I definitely want to improve my position in the championship and I am very focused on winning races. I do have a lot of ground to make up after missing the first event this year, but I’m just keeping my head down and giving it 100%. Anything can happen in racing and I feel confident that I can be competitive and accumulate valuable points at Winton this weekend.”

Round 6 at Winton International Raceway can be viewed LIVE this Sunday at www.teamhondaracing.com.au/live-stream.html with all the racing action from 9:45am AEST including the 3 Swann Insurance Superbike Championship races.
