From a press release issued by High Rock Raceway: High Rock Raceway announced today that the Rowan County Planning Department approved the erosion and sediment control plan that High Rock submitted. High Rock will now be able to clear the remainder of the track property, in accordance with the plan. Prior to commencing work, High Rock and its contractor will meet with North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Rowan County to ensure that all parties have a clear understanding of the work to be done. “We appreciate Rowan County’s quick turnaround on our plan and we are anxious to start clearing the balance of the site” said Rich Combs, President and Chief Operating Officer of High Rock. “The clearing process will probably take two months and then we will begin the initial grading of the site” said Combs. The contractor will be removing all brush, trees and stumps from the interior of the track site, in accordance with the approved plan. As the Nation’s first green race track, continual efforts have been made to recycle and re-purpose construction debris. In this case, rather than burning the cleared trees and stumps, High Rock will use wood chips produced from the cleared trees and stumps for pathways throughout the venue. All commercial and residential building, including trackside luxury condos, at the Raceway will meet “North Carolina HealthyBuilt Homes” guidelines and showcase construction materials technology designed to reduce consumption and minimize environmental impact. Of the 120 trackside Race Townhomes, approximately 85 have been pre-reserved. High Rock Raceway is a 2.15 mile road course designed by world-renowned road racer Elliott Forbes- Robinson.
