Historic Moto Gran Prix Returning To Road Atlanta April 29-May 1

HISTORIC MOTO GRAN PRIX announces opening the 2011 motorcycle road racing season April 29 May 1, 2011 at Road Atlanta, “The Mitty” in conjunction with HSR (Historic Sports car Racing) event. (for more info, log onto “TheMitty.com”) Much like the “Goodwood Festival” which collectors of classic vintage historical automobiles and collections of vintage classic historical motorcycles are displayed as well as perform on racing courses for everyone to enjoy.

Historic Moto Gran Prix is very pleased to announce welcoming the attendance of all participating in the upcoming event. Among some of these wonderful people, many of you may recognize the names of these gentlemen and perhaps the classic machines they have raced during their career.

Rick Lance, attending with some of Thad Wolf replica Suzuki Gammas, Ron Raven with his RZ500, Erving Collek with Ducati special collectibles, Bob Steinbugler aboard and beautiful select bikes from his collection of Bimoto’s, Steve Green arriving with a Colin Edwards RC51 Honda replica, John Conklin joining us with his Yamaha TZ750’s. Our own, and the one and only, infamous and dedicated, Mr. Billy Hausler and the Yamaha TZ750 he joins us with. Keith Campbell will be along with select bikes from his collection of CR750 Honda’s including his XR750TT Harley Davidson.

In addition, having raced his motorcycle at Road Atlanta on many occasions during the years of the 1970s and ’80s, HMGP is pleased to announce, Art Kowitz will be joining us with his 1975 Superbike, Z1 to allow us just one more thrill for the event!!! Jay Farlow, along with his beautiful machines from his Rickman collection will be available to be admired”¦ HMGP’s other one and only,

Mr. Dave LaMerrill, always included, along with his hand built chassis MotoGP bike. Steve Liberatore will ride his Tom Kipp YZF750 enhancing the excitement of the sport we all love, appreciate and enjoy!

Historic Moto Gran Prix extends a very special note of appreciation to Mr. Larry Hardy for his dedicated and continued support. Mr. Larry Hardy has quite a collection of beautifully restored vintage Honda motorcycles we are delighted to have join us to display the bikes everyone enjoys admiring. In addition to Performance Electric Company he maintains Larry’s Vintage Cycle Repair and Restoration in Winder, GA.

Our special thanks to Yamaha Motor Corporation, Michelin North America, Ohlins Suspension , EBC Brakes, and all of those we are sincerely appreciative of in assisting in their capacity in our endeavors to pursue our longevity of our vintage sport, not only on the racing surfaces, in the hearts and minds of those we learn to enjoy the friendships and look forward to the next event to share our mutual interests.

HMGP welcomes owners of historic, vintage, collectible or former factory race bikes, who would like to bring their bikes back out to show or to race on-track. The race format for all competition will be gentleman’s racing, in four classes and grouped largely by production era. Most of our riders are 40 plus representing a vast range of industries and influence and enjoy displaying and riding their classic motorcycles.

Special hospitality is available to all participants at no cost during each event and is included with an HMGP membership. Interested parties who are owners of classic or vintage bikes, or those who own former AMA, World Superbike, MotoGP, WERA and CCS bikes are encouraged to join HMGP and show and/or race their vintage bikes at future events. All machines must meet certain criteria to qualify for race and show competitions.
