CMRA Will Not Race at Oak Hill Raceway The CMRA has revised its schedule and will hold its fourth round 2010 event at Eagle’s Canyon Raceway near Decatur, Texas. The event date remains May 1-2, 2010 as originally scheduled. The 12-hour Shogun Mini-Series Endurance race scheduled for Saturday, May 1, will be held at Eagle’s Canyon, where a new crossover road will make the track much more suitable for mini-class racing than in past years. The Sunday, May 2, schedule includes the full-slate of CMRA mini and big-bike classes. Please see the complete revised 2010 season schedule at ~http://www.cmraracing.com/pdf/2010/Schedules/2010_Schedule_Rev_12-31.pdf~ Though owned by Mrs. Idaleen Gibson, the track is now under the control of a family trust. The track has been closed to racers since late 2009 and the trust did not respond to CMRA requests for a 2010 use agreement. The trust has not disclosed future plans for the track. Oak Hill Raceway was constructed in 1975 by brothers Jack and Pete Reed. The CRRC (now CMRA) first raced at Oak Hill in December 1975 and the track has been a mainstay in the club’s schedule since. Situated in rolling hills east of Henderson, Texas, the highly technical 1.8 mile, 13-turn track has been credited by many national and world champions that came through the CMRA as an important part of their development as racers. The CMRA would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Gibson and Track Manager Darryl Stach for their many years of support of the CMRA and motorcycle road racing. We also thank the citizens and businesses of Henderson, Texas for their hospitality since 1975. Founded in 1974, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) is an independent, non-profit organization with over 750 members. The CMRA organizes and promotes motorcycle road races throughout the South Central region of the United States. The many world and national champions who began racing with CMRA include Colin Edwards, Danny Eslick, Nicky Hayden, Roger Lee Hayden, Tommy Hayden, Jamie James, John Kocinski, Sam McDonald, Ricky Parker, Doug Polen, Kevin Schwantz, Freddie Spencer, Ben Spies and Britt Turkington.
