Honda’s all-new CTX1300 is a motorcycle that blurs the line between a touring machine and a bagger-style cruiser. It is powered by a liquid-cooled, longitudinally-mounted, 90-degree V-4 that displaces 1261cc. Bore is 78.0mm, stroke is 66.0mm and compression ratio is 10.0:1. Each cylinder head has double overhead camshafts, and each cylinder has four valves. The V-4 engine is based upon the same motor in the ST1300 but with changes aimed at enhancing its low-to-mid-range horsepower and torque while retaining the feel and sound of a V-4. The PGM-FI fuel-injection system works with four 36mm throttle bodies and injectors with eight-hole nozzles. The engine is backed by a five-speed transmission with relatively tall gearing to provide a smooth ride and efficient performance at highway cruising speeds, according to Honda. Final drive is via a shaft unit. The double cradle frame is suspended by non-adjustable, 45mm inverted front forks and dual rear shocks that are adjustable for spring preload. The braking system includes dual 310mm (12.2 inches) front discs and a single 315mm (12.4 inches) rear disc. The tires measure 130/70R-18 front and 200/50R-17 rear. Wheelbase is 64.5 inches (1638mm), rake is 28.5 degrees, trail is 114.3mm (4.5 inches), and seat height is claimed to be 29.1 inches (739mm). Weight of the Honda CTX1300 with its integrated hard saddlebags mounted and its 5.1-gallon under-seat fuel tank full is claimed to be 724.2 pounds 328.5 kg), and the CTX1300 Deluxe is claimed to weigh 731.4 pounds (332 kg). The Deluxe model differs from the base model via its standard ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), traction control, self-canceling turn signals, audio system with external speakers and Bluetooth connectivity, and blacked out styling elements. Manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of the 2014 Honda CTX1300 is going to be “around $17,000,” according to company spokesmen.
