Honda to be title sponsor of mini road racing championship The UEM (Union Européene de Motocyclisme) has announced a new agreement which will see Honda Motor, the world’s largest motorcycle company, as title sponsor of the UEM Mini Road Racing championship. The aim of this three-year agreement is to develop young, talented riders in road racing and give a strong contribution to the motorsport community. The championship will be known as the Honda NSF100 Cup and it will be open to all those competing on the four-stroke 100cc mini-moto machines. The 2011 Honda NSF100 Cup will be held at Juvaincourt International circuit in France over the weekend of 5-7 August and the UEM’s intention is to increase the number of races in the championship in 2012 and 2013 to involve more countries and riders from all over Europe. The series is named after the Honda NSF100, a small racing machine manufactured by HRC (Honda Racing Corporation), which has been designed as the perfect tool to introduce younger riders aged 10-13 to road racing. Similar championships, known as the NSF100 HRC Trophy, also run in Japan and South Africa. The Honda NSF100 Cup will bring the leading mini road racing riders from each country for a one-off weekend of competition and is intended to introduce young riders to an international level of racing, with a view to finding the racing champions of the future. UEM President, Vincenzo Mazzi, commented: “What a wonderful opportunity to bring young riders from around Europe together to experience international racing at an early age. The UEM is very pleased to work together with Honda on this project and give the opportunity to young riders to compete at international level.” He added: “The Honda NSF100 Cup underlines the commitment of both the UEM and Honda to developing racing talent for generations to come and I am sure the championship will an important gateway for motorcycle champions of the future.”
