The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association wrapped up its Championship schedule over the weekend, with the 10th and final round of its series at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas, where Ty Howard and Dane Westby dominated the sprint racing action. Howard and Westby each claimed three expert-class sprint races apiece, with Howard taking wins in the Liberty Motorsports Park B Superstock, South Central Race Center C Superstock and Island Racing C Superbike races, while Westby topped the Avteq A Superbike, RaceworX A Superstock and Northwest Honda Formula 1 races. Frank Gonzales also had a good day with wins in the Formula 2 and Clubman races. In other racing action, Jake Lewis nipped Chase Vivion at the checkers to win the GMAN Productions 125 GP race, while Marv Esterly edged Michael Nellis by 0.025 seconds to win the CompuCrew Formula 40 Expert race. The grids were packed for Sunday’s sprint races as 521 entries filled the grids, while in Saturday’s finale to the seven-round Shogun Motorsports Endurance Series, 35 teams started the six-hour race which was eventually won by The Dark Side. However, it was GMAN Racing taking the series championship with a fourth place finish. Despite finishing second in Saturday’s race, Lone Star Track Days came up six points shy in the quest for the title, ultimately finishing second on the year behind GMAN Racing. Third place on the day went to Desert-Rats.net, giving the YZF-R1-mounted team first in the A Superstock class. Faltless Racing finished 15th overall to win the Formula 2 division, earning them the 2007 title, while Village Idiots claimed the C Superbike title with a sixth overall at Texas World. After the endurance race on Saturday evening the club held its end-of-the-year cookout and sponsored a Halloween party. Some of the teams decorated their pits with spooky furnishings and everyone got in the holiday spirit by trick-or-treating throughout the paddocks. The CMRA finishes out the year with its Annual Banquet on December 1st at the River Ranch in Fort Worth where series awards will be handed out.
