Ty Howard overcame a meatball flag, a stalled engine and a stubborn bid by Tyler McDonald to turn in a dominating five-win race performance at round six of the CMRA Championship Series held at Oak Hill Raceway, near Henderson, Texas. In the Sum Of All Parts A Superstock Expert race, which pays a $150 purse, Howard came from behind on his Suzuki GSX-R750 to beat Yamaha YZF-R1-mounted Bryan West by three seconds after serving a stop and go penalty on lap three for getting an early jump at the start. In the $1000 purse-paying Pace American Trailers Formula 1 race, which was run in a downpour, Howard killed his engine on the grid and was unable to get it started by the time the green flag fell. Howard entered the race a half of a lap down after getting a bump start, and then ran down early leader Tyler McDonald, passing him on lap four, before going on to a 26-second margin of victory. In the Racing Performance Services B Superstock Expert race, which pays $150 purse, Howard battled all race with a stubborn McDonald, passing him on the final lap to take yet another win. Howard went on to add wins in the Komodo Racing C Superstock Expert race and the Motorcycles Unlimited C Superbike race. Howard also topped off his day by claiming the $150 prize for winning the Island Racing Fast Lap of the Weekend award, for posting the fastest transponder-timed lap, a 1:22.680 in the C Superbike race. In the Roadracingworld.com Formula 2 Expert race, which pays $150 purse to the top five finishers, Suzuki SV650-mounted Zac Chapman came from behind to take the win, topping Motard-rider Dustin Meador (YZ426), Derek Wagnon (Honda RS125) and Ryan O’Donnell (RS125) in the process. Other Expert-class winners included Dustin Dominguez, who claimed wins in the South Central Race Center D Superbike Expert race, which pays a $150 purse, and the Lightweight Twins Expert race. Derek Wagnon claimed the winner’s share of the $150 purse paid in the Northwest Honda 125 GP race, while Eric Falt took the win in the Avteq Formula 40 Lightweight Expert race, which pays a $150 purse. Bryan West turned back all challengers to win the RaceworX A Superbike Expert race, which pays a $150 purse. In Saturday’s CMRA Formula Mini Endurance race, Venom Racing, riding a Honda RS80, maintained steady lap times and avoided problems to take the win, finishing the six hour race with four laps to spare over second place finishers Hambone (Kawasaki EX250). Finishing in third place, four laps down from Hambone, was Trinity Racing Too, riding a Honda RS85. KTM 65-mounted Excel Racing claimed the win in the Formula 5 division with a fifth overall finish, while Thunderdonk Racing (YSR XR100) and SDM Racing (KLX110) finished 13th and 14th to win the Formula 7 and Formula 6 divisions, respectively. In Mini Sprint action, Ryan O’Donnell won the Formula 4 race on his Honda RS85, while Conner Blevins took the win in the Formula 6 class on a Honda NSR50. In the Formula 5 race, Derek Wagnon claimed the win on a Honda RS80, with Roger Albert taking the Formula 7 win on a Honda XR100. The CMRA returns to action on July 28-30 at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit with a five hour endurance race, a two hour mini endurance race and a full slate of sprint races.
