Howard Takes Four Wins and the CMRA Overall #1 Plate at Texas World Speedway

The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) season finale weekend saw larger grids, big names, and non-stop action. Temperatures in the upper 60’s and 25-35 mph gusting winds made conditions tough. Despite the weather, fast speeds and a large spectator turnout favored the final round of Sprints this past Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the 2.9-mile Texas World Speedway course in College Station, Texas.

Ty Howard rocked the RaceworX – A Superstock Expert, 212Decals.com – A Superbike Expert, HighPerformanceCrew.com – Formula 1 Expert, and Heavyweight Twins Expert races, taking his Bridgestone-shod KTM RC8 to the win in all four classes, sealing the deal for the club’s overall number plate as well. Howard had this to say, “It was a great day, the wind was tough to deal with, but for the most part it made the racing really exciting. I’d like to thank Brandon Spradling at P1 Racing Services, John Hutchinson at South Central Race Center, Bridgestone Tires, DynoJet, Bridgestone, VP, Pilot, Motul, 212Decals.com, KTM North America, and a big thanks to HighPerformanceCrew.com for sponsoring the Formula 1 Class.” Danny Kelsey rode his Michelin-shod Suzuki GSX-R750 to four podiums, taking the wins in B Superstock Expert, B Superbike Expert, and second place finishes in Raceworx – A Superstock Expert, and 212Decals.com – A Superbike Expert races. Kelsey had this to say, “I felt great on Sunday, and I was very pleased with my results. The heart breaker was race #7, when Ty passed me just at the line by .02 of a second. It was so close; I really thought I had him. The championship came down to this race, and the championship was lost by that .02 of a second. It was a good season and a great year. I’d like to thank my sponsors: RPSraceteam.com, Island Racing Services/Michelin Tires, Komodo Gear, Eagles Canyon Raceway, KMC Controls, DP Brakes, GP Suspension, JRI Shocks, and Vortex. I’m really looking forward to 2013.”

Top Novice from the weekend: Barry Aldeen, racing his first weekend ever with CMRA, rode his Suzuki GSX-R750 to five podiums, taking three wins in Road & Track Suspension – Formula 1 Novice, Lone Star Trackdays – B Superstock Novice, North Texas Superbikes – B Superbike Novice and second place finishes in North Texas Superbikes – A Superbike Novice and OnRoad OffRoad Suspension – A Superstock Novice.

The TWS Persistence Prize, a $1000 purse, for the most overall accumulated Sunday Sprint race points offered by CMRA racer, David Sprague in honor of his wife Dawn and other cancer fighters had a large number of participants. The 1st place winner was Noah Reese, who entered his Suzuki SV650 in nine classes and accumulated 253 points. The other TWS Persistence Prize winners are listed below. A very large thank you again goes out to David Sprague for generously offering this award.
