Brainerd, MN (June 29) Zalusky Advanced Riding School and Track Days (ZARS) recently held its third round for the Shootout Series Championship and Track Day on June 26, at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. With top riders from across the Midwest and Canada, ZARS continues to bring in record numbers of participants for motorcycle events at Brainerd International Raceway. The Shootout Series was presented by Worldwide Machining and Welding, Inc., and awarded $1000 in cash prizes to all the top finishers in each of the four classes. In the Expert GP 3/4, Zach Hughes continues to lead his domination aboard his Yamaha YZF-R1 with another win with the fastest time of the day with 1:39.35. After battles a few close battles, Christian Schmidt and Nick Campbell finished respectively in 2nd and 3rd. Aboard his Suzuki SV650, Karl Rehpohl took an impressive win in the Expert GP 1/2, followed by Christian Schmidt in 2nd and Ashish Kumar in 3rd. In the Novice GP 1/2, Stephen Johnson took his first win as well with Jake Hawthorne in 2nd. ZARS also continues to broaden our competitive opportunities with the Midwest’s most talented Track Day riders in the Rider Challenge. Points leader, Nick Johnson, continued his domination throughout most of the 5-lap sprint, but was sidelined hundreds of feet from the finish line on the last lap due to a mechanical. As a result, Tim Ruzek was able to work his way to the lead and ultimately an impressive first win! In their first ever Rider Challenge, Matthew Dryden finished in 2nd and Martin Holte finished in 3rd to round off our largest and most exciting field yet for the Rider Challenge. “Our recent Shootouts and Rider Challenge are proof that Midwest riders are some of the best of the best,” stated Jessica Zalusky. The next round of the Shootout will be held during the ZARS Track Day Event on July 17 at Brainerd International Raceway. This will be the first ZARS Track Day Event to be held on the 3.1 Mile Donnybrooke Road Course (also known as long course).
