SONOMA, Calif. Infineon Raceway will step up to the plate to help the North Vallejo Little League, which was vandalized by burglars this week. The raceway will donate $5,000 to cover the cost of the equipment, uniforms and computers stolen during the robbery. The monies for the donation will come from a 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days charity event to be held at Infineon Raceway on April 22. Vallejo is located approximately 10 miles west of Infineon Raceway. “I heard about this on the way to work on the radio, and I couldn’t believe someone would do this to kids,” said Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway and a founder 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days. “We just felt like we had to do something, especially with Vallejo being so close to the raceway. We thought 3J’s would be the perfect way to raise money. I’m just so glad we were able to help the kids.” Tony Hodges, president of North Vallejo Little League, was ecstatic when he heard the news. “This will definitely get us our uniforms and help us piece back everything else as we go on,” Hodges said. “My mission is to have something tangible so these kids don’t miss one day, and this donation from Infineon Raceway will help make sure of that. It means a lot that the raceway would shine on a place like North Vallejo.” A formal check presentation will take place next week in Vallejo. Details on day/time are TBD. The league begins practice next Friday and regular season games begin in April. Thieves broke into the league’s concessions and storage building and stole all of the uniforms and equipment, as well as $600 worth of candy. The burglars also ransacked the building and left behind broken computer equipment and trophies. There have been 13 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days at Infineon Raceway over the last five years. It gives motorcycle riders a chance to ride the world-famous road course, with all proceeds going to charity.
