More Than 200 Children Treated to Christmas Party at Infineon Raceway SONOMA, Calif. (IMMEDIATE RELASE) Infineon Raceway helped spread some holiday cheer on Saturday to more than 200 less-fortunate children at the first “Children’s Race to the Holidays” Christmas Party. The raceway hosted 215 Sonoma Valley children and their families at this inaugural holiday event, which featured caroling, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus and two of his elves. The event culminated with Santa presenting each child with a new toy. “This was very nice,” said Anna Rodriguez of Sonoma, who came with her niece, nephew and son. “The kids really had a great time and they love their gifts. My niece was afraid of Santa at first, but she really liked asking for her present.” The festive event was held under cloudy and rainy skies, but that did not dampen the spirits of the more than 200 children who attended. They all left the raceway with new toys and wide smiles. Following the toy distribution, everyone was treated to a free lunch at the Infineon Raceway Café. “This was a lot of fun,” said Kyle Land, a 10-year-old from Sonoma. “I got a robotic dinosaur and I really like it a lot.” “I had a great time. I didn’t really know what to expect but it was a fun party,” said Breanna Singletary, a 12-year-old from Sonoma. “I liked the singing and meeting Santa. Everything was fun.” All children who attended the party were pre-registered through one of the following Sonoma Valley groups: Valley of the Moon Boys and Girls Club, Valley of the Moon Teen Center, Stand By Me Mentoring, Valley of the Moon Teen Center and Willmar Center for Bereaved Children. Based on the strong turnout, raceway officials expect to make this an annual event and anticipate even more children and families participating in future years. The raceway received a generous outpouring of support from the community as more than 300 new toys were donated for the party. Some of the organizations included: Bonanza Ford, Gundlach-Bundschu Winery, Schell-Vista Fire Department, Sonoma Rotary, Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce, Sonoma Valley Fire Department and The Swiss Hotel, among others.
