Injured Racer: Russ Wikle Update

Russ Wikle lowsided in Daytona SportBike Race 2 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California and was hit by Michael Beck, who was right behind Wikle and could not avoid him. Wikle was airlifted to a hospital in Santa Rosa, California hospital and CT scans revealed six broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, a ruptured spleen and a bruised liver. On Sunday night Wikle was refusing painkillers, talking on the phone, flirting with the nurses, etc. More to follow when available. Update: According to a Tuesday posting on Russ Wikle’s Facebook page (~http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=100000491302976&ref=ts~) he has been released from Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and is planning to fly home to Alabama.
