An injury suffered last week by AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike racer Cameron Beaubier while riding on the street will prevent the Y.E.S. Graves Yamaha rider from participating in Round Two of the Championship April 20-22 at Road Atlanta. “I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it to Road Atlanta,” the 19-year-old Californian told Roadracingworld.com Friday while on his way home from a physical therapy appointment. “It’s a bummer, but I’m shooting for Infineon.” Beaubier said he was riding his Yamaha Zuma scooter on March 26 when he clipped a concrete barrier and crashed, breaking his right kneecap badly enough to require surgery. The surgery was performed March 28 at the National Surgery Center in Los Gatos, California, the same facility where Beaubier had surgery December 28, 2011, to repair a broken left tibia he suffered while training on his dirt bike. “It has been hard,” said Beaubier, who finished third in the Daytona 200, after battling for the lead throughout the race. “It’s really irritating, coming off an injury, healing up really quick and then going out and hurting myself in some stupid little accident. It was kind of ridiculous. I just want to get better and get healthy and get back to racing.” Beaubier, who just resumed limited walking this week, said he will not travel to Road Atlanta at all and will instead stay home to focus on his recovery.
