After a stellar performance during the recent Daytona tire test, Westby Racing and KneeDraggers.com are pleased to announce that Dane Westby will compete in the 2009 AMA Pro Racing Daytona Sportbike class aboard two new YZF-R6 Yamahas prepared by Westby Racing’s Chuck Giacchetto and Dustin Meador. “All of us here at Kneedraggers are excited to have the chance to work with Dane,” commented Kneedraggers.com’s Sam Lehrfeld. “I’ve watched Westby’s skill, as well as his results, progress over the last few years. As for Dane Westby, motorcycling runs deep in his family starting in the early 1920s when his grandfather Gerald used a Harley-Davidson sidecar rig while working as a geologist to search for oil in Algeria; he was later involved in developing a new technology called seismology. The motorcycling tradition continued with Gerald’s son Tryg, who didn’t start racing until the age of 30 but was good enough to land a Honda support ride in 1983, racing a VF750 Interceptor with a factory engine and suspension bits.
