PJ Jacobsen- 2010 Rookie of the Year- Racing the Sacramento Mile with Moroney’s 1-800-FAST-HOG Jacobsen to debut his Flat Track National Number, #99! The first time then-16-year-old PJ Jacobsen sat on a Moroney’s Harley Davidson XR 750 was at the Springfield Mile in 2010. The result: he won his first-ever heat race. Since then, PJ has earned the 2010 AMA Flat-Track Rookie of the Year honor as well as the honor of having a National Number, #99. Now, 1-800-FAST-HOG and PatrickJacobsen.com are pleased to announce that PJ will be riding in the Sacramento Mile on July 30, 2011! “We are stoked to put this kid back on my Harleys again and see what they can both do,” Pat Moroney said. “PJ was incredible last year the few times he rode the bike. Then in the last round of 2010 he qualified on the pole at Yavapai Downs Mile and won Rookie of the Year! What more can you ask?” “I am always excited for the chance to race Flat Track,” PJ said. “The break in the Daytona SportBike schedule allows me to make the Sacramento Mile.” The schedule was perfect, in fact, for allowing all this to line up. Since there was a SportBike race at Laguna Seca this past weekend, Celtic Racing owner Barry Gilsenan helped to bring the bikes out to California. Moroney’s 1-800-FAST-HOG has been a great supporter of PJ’s racing efforts since his early youth, and that relationship continues today. “We prepped the bike over the winter hoping that PJ would have time on his schedule to race,” Moroney said. “In Sacramento, PJ will joining Brian Smith, our full time Moroney’s Racing rider.” Bob Weiss from Weiss Racing will be turning the wrenches again for Jacobsen and the Moroney’s team. Bob said, “This is going to be a great deal of fun! The Sacramento Mile is a prestigious event. This is going to be an exciting and competitive race.” PJ Jacobsen added that “Pat and Bobby keep it fun- real fun. They just make me laugh even when I am on the track racing. It’s just a blast. I have known these guys since I was born. My dad would bring me along when he raced for Pat, and Bobby was always there. Bob and I have a CRF150 road race endurance series together we put on so we spend a lot of time together and we ride a couple times a week with Kenny Coolbeth, who as you well know is a three time Grand National Champion.” Good luck to PJ and all the riders at Sacramento this weekend!
