Drew Jankord secures CCS Mid-West Expert #1 Plate

Jankord takes the CCS Mid-West’s Expert #1 plate after a successful campaign in his first expert season. In addition he garnered championships in: the Unlimited Supersport, Lightweight Supersport, 500 Supersport, and GT Ultralight. He finished runner-up in the Unlimited Superbike, Unlimited GP, Ultralight Superbike, and GTO Championships at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in the CCS Mid-West’s final round.

For Jankord, the weekend at Blackhawk concluded a season that contained unforeseen adversities as well as hard earned victories. Jankord reflected, “At the beginning of the season I had not been to four out of the five tracks that were on the schedule. I knew it would be difficult to travel to venues in my competition’s backyard and learn them quick enough to be competitive. I really wanted to go out and highlight my talent chasing a class championship, but honestly I did not have aspirations for the #1 plate in my first year racing as an expert. When I realized the overall championship might be possible, I really put my head down and tried to focus on the championship rather than just winning races.” This is not to say Jankord didn’t win this year. During the course of the season he became familiar with the top step as he earned 33 wins out of a total of 57 podiums in 74 races.

Bill Kaszer of Motorcycle Supply said “ We are proud to have supported Drew for the last 3 years and are thrilled for his latest accomplishment.“

As with any successful campaign there are the supporting players that were key in making everything come together, at the top of that list Drew would like to thank his wife Casey, all the racers and race fans in the Mid-west, and his sponsors: Motorcycle Supply, Bel-Ray, Scorpion, Pirelli, Farrell Performance, Motion Pro, Woodcraft, K-tech, Velocity Calibrations, SBS Brakes, and Vortex.

Finally, Jankord would like to thank Championship Cup Series. This year CCS expanded to run a diverse schedule of different tracks, some that have not been on the calendar for over a decade, this created some excellent racing opportunities. Kevin Elliot, Rick Breuer, all the CCS staff, corner workers, and track personnel deserve a sincere thank you from the entire race community in the Mid-West. Thanks for a fantastic season
