Jason Curtis Earns Top Spot in August Qualifying for Toyota 200 Plus $1,000 AV Inn Round One Fast Qualifier Award Rosamond, CA – Top AMA privateer Jason Curtis of Santa Clarita guaranteed himself a spot on the front row of next month’s Toyota 200 and earned a cool $1000 from the Antelope Valley Inn after running the fastest qualifying lap on Friday with a 1:22.471 aboard his Suzuki GSX R-1000. Veteran WSMC racer Jeff Stern of Las Vegas took the second spot with a 1:23.176 while young Jason Perez of Brentwood ranked third with a 1:23.256. Complete qualifying times are attached. Another round of qualifying will take place on Friday, September 14th, the first day of the three-day motorcycle fest held annually at the historic Willow Springs Raceway just 90 minutes north of LA. Qualifying for the Roadracing World 250/50 will be held on Saturday, along with a full card of WSMC Club racing with over 30 classes ranging from lightweight 125’s to the 1000cc superbikes. The Toyota 200 motorcycle road race is a 200-mile, no-holds barred unlimited competition that attracts some of the best riders from throughout the U.S., Canada and beyond will take place on Sunday. With $50,000 going to the winning racer and over $150,000 in cash and contingencies offered over the three full days of racing, the event has become known as “roadracing’s richest weekend.” The $30,000 Roadracing World 250/50 race for exotic, purpose-build 250 Grand Prix racers will also be held on Sunday and promises to bring out many of the best riders in the field. Advanced tickets for motorcycle roadracing’s premiere event are available for $25/person via phone or at the track office until August 31st. General admission tickets are $30/person starting September 1st. The price includes admission to all three days of practice and racing, pit access plus free parking and camping privileges. Children eight and under are admitted free with paid adult. Special entertainment & pre-race festivities will be open to both racers and fans Saturday night at the Budweiser Balcony.
