JiR’s ambitious 2012 program is about to get underway! The 2012 season of the Moto2 World Championship officially kicks off with a three-day IRTA tests scheduled for 8-9-10 February at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. A renewed enthusiasm comes from the JiR team, which has 2011 125cc runner-up Frenchman Johann Zarco and Brazilian youngster Eric Granado in the team. Granado will debut in the Moto2 World Championship from the Silverstone race after he reaches the age of 16 which is required for participation in the championship. The choice of two very young riders Johann is 21 and Eric just 15 makes them the youngest team pairing in the championship and this is in line with the new ambitions of JiR’s racing program to encourage young people, with the goal of building a secure path through the intermediate category and beyond. Team JiR Moto2 represents the midpoint of a much larger program, in which particular attention will be devoted to the South American market, given that this year will see the start of many activities to educate youngsters’ behavior on two wheels, bringing them closer to motorsport and starting a school for engineers, following which the best students could be included within the JiR racing team in the World Championship. Gianluca Montiron Since its debut in 2010 we have taken part in the new Moto2 category and thanks to riders of the highest level we now have a good know-how enabling us to invest in a sports program in the long term. Johann is the future of French motorcycling, while Eric is a gamble: he has shown in various minor categories to be talented, now he needs to develop his skills by learning the secrets from the best riders in the world. This year with all our partners we will combine the sports program in the World Championship and other sport and educational activities in the minor categories, using Eric and Johann as representatives and spokesmen. It will be hard work and a challenging program in a time of global problems, but it is necessary to look forward being aware that the next generation represents the future of our sport.
