Jody Barry Takes Pirelli to Eight Class Victories at Autobahn Country Club

DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE Slicks Capture Pirelli’s Fourth Bounty of 2018

ROME, Ga. (May 10, 2018) – Pirelli Tire North America congratulates Jody Barry on capturing the brand’s fourth track bounty of the season at Autobahn Country Club North in Joliet, Illinois on Sunday, April 29. Barry, who was competing aboard his Farrell Perfomance Kawasaki Ninja® ZX™-6R equipped with Pirelli DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE slicks, raced to his first absolute motorcycle track record of the season at the opening round of the Championship Cup Series (CCS) Mid-West Roadracing Championship.

“Jody has been very persistent with his racing efforts and it has shown with this track record,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “Everyone at Pirelli applauds his dedication to the sport, which has helped carry the brand to yet another milestone. We’re looking forward to being the catalyst for the grip he needs to continue reaching new achievements.”

Despite cooler temperatures in the lower 60’s, Barry wasted no time heating up his Pirelli slicks by setting the pace around the 1.46-mile, nine-turn, “North Course” configuration. His record-shattering lap time of 1:02.579 topped the previous absolute motorcycle track record of 1:02.820 that was held by Pirelli’s Cory West. Barry’s record time came during the Expert Superbike Heavyweight class while using a DIABLO SUPERBIKE SC1 120/70-17 front and DIABLO SUPERBIKE SC0 180/60-17 rear slick. With the biggest bounty in Pirelli history up for grabs in 2018, Barry picked up a $750 tire voucher for setting his new record.

“Thank you to Pirelli for providing these tires and supporting the riders this weekened,” said Barry. “The DIABLO SUPERBIKE slicks give me all the confidence and grip that I need to push hard on the track. To set the new absolute motorcycle track record and take home eight class wins is an incredible feeling that I want to experience more of in the future.”

Barry was the standout rider of the weekend by taking the checkered flag to win an incredible eight different classes, including the Expert Superbike Heavyweight, Expert Grand Prix Middleweight, Expert Superbike Middleweight, Expert Supersport Middleweight, Expert Supersport Heavyweight, Expert GTU, Combined GT 500 and Combined Moto 3 classes.
