MAPFRE ASPAR TEAM AND JONAS FOLGER TO REMAIN TOGETHER NEXT SEASON Fruitful early relationship between both parties leads to an agreement for a Moto3 title challenge in 2013 After a hugely successful start to their working relationship the MAPFRE Aspar Team and Jonas Folger have reached an agreement to continue together in the Moto3 class in 2013. Since lining up with the team at the Indianapolis Grand Prix the German has picked up three podiums – including a victory – in just four races. It means that despite finishing in the points on just five occasions this season the MAPFRE Aspar Team rider lies tenth in the current championship on 72 points – a clear sign of his faultless adaptation to the Kalex/KTM package and the Spanish team. Such results make Folger the logical choice to spearhead the team’s next assault on the minor category title that they already won in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011. Jorge Martínez ‘Aspar’: “I am delighted to be able to confirm the signature of Jonas Folger for 2013. Ever since he rode the bike for the first time at Indianapolis he has shown a high level of performance and been constantly amongst the leading positions. He finished on the podium in his first Grand Prix with us and in just four races he has three podiums including a victory. I think it is great that we will be together again in Moto3 for the whole of next season. The MAPFRE Aspar Team has complete faith in the Kalex/KTM package and of course in Jonas Folger. We hope that in 2013 this combination can take us back to where we belong, which is fighting for the Moto3 title.” Jonas Folger: “I am really happy that I am staying with the MAPFRE Aspar Team for another season and I think Jorge is too. We made a connection from the first minute we started working together and thanks to this the results started coming instantly. The work we have done so far gives us great belief going into each round at the moment and it promises to be a bright future together. We have been able to pick up results from the start so I hope this form continues to the end of the current season. I want to keep going like this and be on the podium at of the remaining races. My objective for next season is to start as strongly as possible and fight for the title from the start. The fact I have decided to stay with the MAPFRE Aspar Team is because I know they will give me the means to do just that.”
