As we turn our thoughts to the forthcoming festive period, followed by another World Superbike season, here’s a quick look back to one of the highlights of this year’s championship. Castrol Honda rider Jonathan Rea took pole position for the final round of the 2011 World Superbike championship at Portimao, Portugal on Saturday 15 October. Not only was it the fastest ever motorcycle lap of the circuit, but we managed to catch it from the viewpoint of one of Jonathan’s mechanics – the 2.1m (6ft10in) tall Daniel Postmus. It’s a unique encounter and a real close-up and personal view of life in a World Superbike team garage and on the pit wall. Our thanks to InFront Motorsport and Eurosport for the on-track footage and, of course, to Daniel, for all the rest. On behalf of everyone at the Castrol Honda World Superbike team and Honda Pro Racing, have a peaceful and restful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
