Aurora, IL (June 4, 2008) – Michael Jordan Motor Sports Suzuki rider Geoff May looks to defend his spot on the podium when the Jordan Suzuki team returns to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, June 6-8, 2008. At last season’s race at Road America, May piloted his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a second place podium and led six of 10 laps in the Superstock event. Also competing for the checkered flag in this weekend’s Superstock race is May’s teammate Aaron Yates. The Jordan Suzuki team rode to double podium finishes in the Superstock race at Miller Motorsports Park last weekend, with May earning his first AMA national win and Yates finishing in second place. In 2006, Yates won the AMA Superstock event at Road America, and in the same event set a track record with the fastest 10 laps in a Superstock race held on the 14-turn, 4.048 mile road course. Yates, who has enjoyed five podium finishes this season, hopes to earn his third win in AMA Superstock on Sunday. With three podium finishes of his own this season, including a race win, May would love to challenge Yates for the coveted top spot. Yates is currently in first place in the AMA Superstock championship standings with 170 points, with May currently in third with 141 points. In addition to Superstock racing, both Jordan Suzuki riders compete in the AMA Superbike series. While May races both classes on his production based Suzuki GSX-R1000, Yates rides a full Superbike spec machine in that event. “The team is optimistic about heading onto our home track [Elkhart],” said technical manager Pete Mauhar. “At Infineon and Miller, our Superbike results have improved. With some new parts for us to try at Road America, hopefully we can improve on top speed, which will be needed there.” The weekend’s racing action includes the running of the AMA U.S. Rookies Cup, Moto-ST and the Suzuki Superbike Doubleheader, with both Jordan Suzuki riders competing in Saturday’s 16-lap (100K) Superbike Race 1, Sunday’s 10-lap (60K) Superstock race and Superbike Race 2.
