JORDI TORRES TO RETURN TO MAPFRE ASPAR TEAM Moto2 Spanish Champion and current series leader to rejoin team that gave him Grand Prix chance last season Just a few days after a place was vacated in the MAPFRE Aspar Team’s Moto2 rider line-up alongside Nico Terol it has been filled by Spanish rider Jordi Torres. A little over a year ago the Catalan made his Grand Prix debut with the MAPFRE Aspar Team at the British Grand Prix and impressed enough to secure the ride for the remainder of the season whilst continuing to fulfil his duties in the Moto2 Spanish Championship, which he won. The MAPFRE Aspar Team has moved quickly to secure the services of Torres for a second time, thanks largely to his vast experience on the Suter chassis. Torres, who is making a strong defence of his national title and is currently the series leader, already knows the Grand Prix circuits from last season and he is looking forward to rejoining the MAPFRE Aspar Team. Jordi Torres: “Finally I have another serious opportunity to compete in the Moto2 World Championship. I think it will be better for me than last year because I know all the tracks now. The whole experience last season helped me to mature as a rider and that is going to help me make the most of this chance. I’ll be competing in both championships at the same time so I will have to work hard to get used to using a different bike and tyre in each. I am going into it with an open mind and my objective is merely to make gradual progress. I know this is a great opportunity for me and I am going to fight hard to make it work.”
