From a press release issued by MOTO-ST: Team RightsForBikers.com Signs Justin Filice for the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Daytona Beach, Fla. – When Team RightsForBikers.com lines up on the grid for the start of the Daytona 300, the opening round of the 2008 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series at Daytona International Speedway, they will boast the talents of well-known rider Justin Filice. The son of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jimmy Filice, Justin will compete for Team RightsForBikers.com aboard their Suzuki SV1000S in the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins Class (SST). “We are really pleased to have Justin aboard,” says team owner C.J. Czaia. “He rode in the ST class for us twice last season and proved to be a valuable player and an excellent addition to our team.” Born and raised in Northern California, Filice grew up around race tracks watching his Dad compete. While his Dad started racing at the age of nine and had signed his first factory contract at the age of 16, Justin is a relative newcomer. Although he began riding at the young age of two, this twenty-two year old didn’t actually begin competing until just six years ago. Racing flat track to start, Justin made the move into road racing in 2005 and knew he had found a home. “Road racing is definitely where I want to be,” he says. “And I am really excited to be riding for Team RightsForBikers.com. It is a terrific opportunity. They are a first class operation and the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series is a great tour. I am really jazzed about this season.” A very determined young man, Filice firmly believes in keeping himself fit. He bike rides, trail rides and lifts weights. “Being fit is really important in endurance racing,” he explains. “The better shape you are in, both physically and mentally, the better equipped you are to do well.” “I’ve learned a tremendous amount over the past two years,” he continues. “I got a lot of basics from working with Keith Code at his road-racing schools, and naturally, my dad is a great help. In fact my whole family is behind me 100% which is great. The more you race, the better you get. My goal is to just keep on improving and work my way to the top.” Off the track, Justin is a fun guy who enjoys life. At the races, he is an entirely different person. “When I get to a race track, it is all business,” he explains. “Racing is my job and I take it very seriously. There is a time for playing and a time for working and I don’t mix the two. You can’t do that if you want to succeed and as I said before, I want to go all the way to the top.” When not racing, training or riding motorcycles, Justin can often be found hunting or fishing. “I like both and they are very relaxing to me. There is no pressure out in the wild and I can totally clear my mind. My dad goes fishing with me a lot and that is really fun. We both get to goof around and have a really fun day. My dad is definitely my hero and getting to spend some down time with him is the best.” Ready to rev it up, Justin Filice will be looking for a win when the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series gets underway, March 2 at Daytona International Speedway. MOTO-ST is organized and sanctioned by Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Grand American Road Racing Association, based in Daytona Beach, Fla., provides the series with administrative and commercial support.
