Team Suzuki Alstare Brux rider Yukio Kagayama is making fast progress from his injuries after a visit to renowned specialist Dr Ting in USA after the Superbike World Championship round in Utah ten days ago. Yukio had planned to have a bit of a holiday, with good friend Noriyuki Haga, at the ranch home of GP legend Kenny Roberts, but started his trip first at Dr Ting’s clinic in San Jose, California. While he was there, he had a further CAT scan and his plaster cast was removed in order to start rehabilitation. When he was in the hospital in Tooele just after his crash, Yukio had been told that his injuries would take six months to heal properly, but Dr Ting informed him that he would be able to race in Misano as long as the right programme of rehabilitation and physiotherapy was carried out. So Yukio began by walking in the swimming pool and a regular programme of ice and heat on his foot, whilst also making time for a bit of rest and relaxation. The relaxation included a bit of shooting and barbecues with Kenny Roberts Junior and Kenny Senior, wherein a lot of talking was done about racing – past and present. Yukio stayed at the ranch for a week, before returning to Paris where he is continuing working on his foot and getting as ready as possible for Misano. Yukio “It was good to see Dr Ting and get another opinion and good that the opinion is very positive about my recovery. I am working hard to be in a good condition for Misano and I do not think my injuries will cause me any problems. It was fun hanging out with Nori, Kenny Sr and Kenny Jr and a good break away from the track for a while, but now I am thinking of Misano and getting back to my job as a racer.”
