Everything is ready for the 2009 Japanese Grand Prix that compare to the past years will be held at the beginning of the season and therefore will not decide the World Champion like in the last two seasons for Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi. The race will of course maintain its importance for all the riders who will either look to confirm their performances achieved in Qatar or will look for revenge. Who will try to maintain the same level of the first race of the season will surely be Pramac Racing rider Mika Kallio who has a particular feeling with the Japanese track of Motegi: he has in fact won three races, twice in 125cc in 2005 and 2006, and once in 250cc in 2007. His teammate Niccolò Canepa will start from zero in Japan. The young Italian rider will have to use in the best way possible the two free sessions on Friday and Saturday to learn in the best way the circuit, totally new to him. Fabiano Sterlacchini – Pramac Racing Technical Director “It is quite strange to arrive in Japan so early, it feels like we were here the other day. We were used to come around here at end of the season when things were almost sorted for the championship. The Ducati has always performed well around here even if us as Team rarely made it to conquer great results. The time to change has come. For Canepa it will be the first time here and therefore he will have to learn the best lines to follow really quick, but knowing his qualities I don’t think he will take too much time. On the opposite Mika has done a few races around here with the lower classes achieving interesting results. If it will rain, like the forecast is saying, it can be a weekend rich of surprises also for us.” Mika Kallio – Pramac Racing Team “Last year I didn’t make it to go further then the eleventh position, but for sure I have great memories of this circuit in my still short career. I made it to step on the highest step of the podium in three occasions: in 2007 in the 250 class and in 2005 and 2006 in the 125 class. For sure it will not be easy to confirm these results in my debut in the top class, but without a doubt I will give my best to come as close as possible.” Niccolò Canepa – Pramac Racing Team “The Japanese weekend didn’t start too good, I brought my Playstation to learn the Motegi circuit on the MotoGP game, but unluckily my system is different compare to here and I am not able to play. Therefore I will have to learn all the secret of the track on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning free sessions. A pity. Anyway for what I have seen on television it doesn’t seem like a technical circuit and this can help a new rider like me. To start from zero is never easy but I will try do much better compare to my debut in Qatar where I didn’t perform too well.”
