Karl Lowry took the first step toward capturing the No. 1 plate for the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association, winning the CVMA Unlimited Shootout Presented by SoCal Track Days at the association’s inaugural event.

Operational issues plagued the event at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, including problems with the club’s online registration system and the no-show of the Race Director. Fortunately, former WSMC Operations Manager Kenny Kopecky was on site as a consultant and pulled the event together.

Riding his Graves Motorsports-prepared, Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R1, Lowry also took the win in Saturday’s Formula Open event. And on his Graves-prepared, Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R6, Lowry won Saturday’s SuperSport Middleweight and Sunday’s Formula Middleweight race.

Racers Edge owner Dale Kieffer came out of the box strongly, winning the SuperSport Open races on Saturday and Sunday and winning Sunday’s SuperSport Middleweight race on his Michelin-shod Yamaha YZF-R6.

However, it was Ryan Matter who took the win in Sunday’s 600cc feature race, the CVMA Middleweight Shootout Presented by TrackDaz. Matter crossed the line ahead of Ryan Tarr and Kieffer.

Ryan Gagliano was the big winner in the Formula Twins races, on a very special CycleMall-prepped, Bridgestone-shod Ducati 748 that had been destroked down below the class’s 669cc displacement limit. Gagliano won the Formula Twins sprint races both Saturday and Sunday and took home top honors in the Twins feature race, the CVMA Lightweight Shootout, on Sunday.
