2007 winner of “6 Horas Nocturnas de Albacete”, Team Kawasaki France was leading the free practice sessions this morning on the Spanish racetrack, for the second event of the Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship. The official Kawasaki of Julian Mazuecos, Erwan Nigon and Victor Carrasco was slightly faster than the R1 of Yamaha Austria Racing Team ridden by Igor Jerman, Steve Martin and Steve Plater. They were the only two teams to lap below the 1’34 mark, while local weather conditions were overcast with small drops of rain during both practice sessions. Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (Vincent Philippe, Julien da Costa and Guillaume Dietrich) clocked the third time of this free practice session, ahead of two Spanish teams, the Suzuki Bruno Performance (Victor Casas, Salvador Cabana and Josep Monge) and the Yamaha YMES Folch Endurance (Daniel Ribalta, Pedro Valcaneras and David Tomas). Midi Pyrénées MV Agusta Racing Team (Sébastien Scarnato, Luca Scassa and Patrick Piot) improved in the second session and took the sixth position. The Suzuki Qatar Endurance Racing Team IJT (Mashel Al Naimi, Rashid Al Mannai and Anthony Delhalle) finishes in seventh position, the first Superstock machine, ahead of other regular permanent teams. Bolliger Swizerland, Maco Moto Racing Team, RMT 21, Phase One Endurance and Amadeus X-One La Fortezza are completing the top twelve of the two free practice sessions in that order. Yamaha Endurance Moto 38 is a bit backwards, due to the crash of Hervé Gantner in the first session, while Julien Millet ran out of the track in the second. Suzuki Catala also does not meet the expectations yet, although the free practice sessions are mainly dedicated to the set-up finalization. Serious action will start this afternoon as from 4:30 pm with the first qualifying session. The second qualifying session will take place tomorrow Saturday from 9:30 am. The starting grid will be based on the average time of each team after the two sessions. The “6 Horas Nocturnas de Albacete” will start Saturday at 6pm, for an arrival at Midnight. The weather might be an unexpected guest, though. Local forecast plans clouds; occasional showers and a temperature remaining inferior to 20º C for the next two days.
