The PR Racing and Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing teams have today (Wednesday) confirmed their respective line-ups for the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as Gary Mason, Simon Andrews, Chris Walker and James Hillier were all confirmed for the forthcoming season. Liverpool-based PR Racing has confirmed Mason will join Andrews for 2012 as the former team-mates are reunited. Mason was a podium finisher last season and believes that the hard work and passion of the team will project them into the forefront of BSB as the new technical regulations equal the opposition. Andrews will return with the team where he secured seven podium finishes including a victory in the Evo class last season as he continues his recovery from a severely broken leg. Andrews is counting down the days until his external fixator is removed and he can begin testing with the team. Andrews said: “Even last year I was already looking ahead to next season and that is why I rode in the Evo class as we were forward thinking to 2012. I get on well with the team and there is a great atmosphere in the garage; we have a methodical way of working so I am happy to be staying with them. I really feel that PR Racing is an upcoming team in the BSB paddock and the fight we have and the team spirit can continue. I still have the cage on my leg, but it should be coming off before Christmas so I feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It won’t be long then before I can start testing ready for the start of the season.” Mason said: “I really can’t wait until next season and I am happy as we have every chance of winning and achieving podiums with the new rules for next year. I was always keen to stay with Kawasaki as we started working last year on the development and I wanted to continue that as I feel that the bike has real potential. As a team, PR Racing are passionate about what they do and that is so important; a happy team generally equals a fast team. We have a lot to prove and we definitely want to leave some of the competition with red faces next year that’s for sure. The team have already begun work on the bike so we can get the best out of it from the start of the year. The new season and the new rules is what racing is all about and I can’t wait to start work with PR Racing on the Kawasaki.” Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki has also announced their team line up as Walker and Hillier signed for the newly amalgamated squad. Team owners Danny Cheevers (Pr1mo Racing) and Pete Extance (Bournemouth Kawasaki) are now looking to build on their experience and combine their efforts as they target a position in the Showdown in 2012. Walker secured top five finishes last season whilst Hiller made his full season debut in the Evo class, just missing out on podium finishes. Walker said: “It is exciting that the team has come together; to join forces is great as they have some big plans and it is fantastic to be able to be back on the BSB grid next year. For me it is brilliant to be with the same team for a second consecutive season as we know what we need to build on and how we can make improvements. I am familiar with the team and the Kawasaki and the new rules I think will suit riders like me who have raced Superbikes for over a decade; hopefully that experience will close the gap. I was desperate to be back in BSB in 2012 and we want to be pushing for the top six in the Showdown as that is my ambition. We had some top five finishes last year and we will return more prepared so hopefully we can achieve that goal as the team and the machine have the potential.” Hiller added: “I am really looking forward to next season and working alongside Chris as a two man team. Last season was my first full year and as a one rider team it does make it more difficult, whereas in 2012 we will be able to work together and I can learn from him and his experience. Everyone knows it is hard racing in BSB but everyone in the team will be determined and giving one hundred percent. We have some data now from last year so we have a better starting point and with the new rules I don’t think we will now be a million miles away.
