ANDREW TREVITT BENEFIT AUCTION RAISES CASH AND SPIRITS IN DAYTONA Generous Bidders Stage Frenetic Closing Rally! Following four short weeks collecting donations to benefit injured motojournalist Andrew Trevitt, the motorcycle industry pulled together to generate in excess of three hundred auction items. After conducting a silent auction during Daytona Bike Week, and posting the first round of eBay items, total proceeds have already exceeded $30,000! The funds collected are going directly to Trevitt, to help cover his medical expenses, rehabilitation and ongoing support resulting from an accident last year. Silent auction merchandise in Daytona included a wide variety of unique motorsports items, top-quality riding gear, artwork and literature. Throughout the day on Friday, March 6, interested Trevitt supporters and motorsports enthusiasts browsed an interesting selection of approximately 75 items. Thirty minutes prior to the auction’s closing bell, a sudden frenzy of bidder activity saw prices soar! When completed, the auction proceeds tallied well in excess of the auctioneer’s original estimates. In addition to the Daytona auction participants, Trevitt supporters have helped the first week of eBay listings to generate over $23,000, thanks in part to generous donations from Cycle World magazine, Motorcycle-USA.com, Rider magazine and several of the motorcycle publications at Source Interlink Media. In addition to donations from the media, small businesses and private parties, several OEM motorcycle manufacturers also made direct contributions to the Trevitt Benefit Auctions, including: Buell, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. Far from over, approximately 250 additional items are scheduled for eBay postings throughout the months of March and April, including dozens of high quality motorcycle helmets, about 50 motorcycle jackets, a couple dozen pairs of riding pants, several more sets of roadrace leathers and riding suits, and over 100 other moto-related items. For a look at what’s currently posted on eBay, please go to: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/trevitt-benefit. Trevitt, the popular senior editor at Sport Rider magazine, suffered catastrophic injuries in a bike/car accident last November. After multiple surgeries and an extended stay in the intensive care unit, Trevitt now faces a long road to recovery and is currently undergoing physical rehabilitation.
