Jones, Kcraget, Palmer Take ASRA Pole Positions At Summit Point

ASRA Sprint Series Round 2 Sanctioned by AMA May 26, 2013 Summit Point Circuit Summit Point, WV Summit Point, WV – The first AMA-sanctioned action on the Summit Point Circuit this Memorial Day weekend was ASRA Sprint Series Qualifying. With clear skies and a brisk 20 mph breeze at their backs, the SuperStock class rolled out for their session and it was John Palmer posting a 1:14.706 on the final lap to secure the top spot. Starting second on Monday will be Eric Helmbach with Dave Loikits in third position and the final spot on the front row is Tony Leong. Helmbach is the lone BMW 1000 on the front row while Palmer, Loikits and Leong are all on Suzuki 1000. The ASRA SportBikes were up next and defending champion Mark Miller, Jr. had to settle for second position as Ryan Jones posted fast lap of 1:15.307 to take the pole. The third spot was filled by Donny Kelley and Curtis Murray starts from fourth position. Jones, Kelly and Murray were on Suzuki 600’s while Mark Miller is the only Yamaha 600 in the field. Last qualifying session for the afternoon was ThunderBike and local legend Brian Kcraget lived up to his reputation by setting fast lap early, a 1:18.984, 3 seconds quicker than second position Art Diaz on his Buell. Kcraget’s fellow Suzuki 650 riders Russell Masecar and Darrell Emerson completed the front row for Monday’s final event. In Amateur qualifying action, it was Benjamin Seville in SuperStock, Ryan Lutz in SportBike and Tommy Wilson in ThunderBike securing pole positions for their final events tomorrow. Racing action starts at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Day with Championship Cup Series action and ASRA Series finals beginning at 12:30 p.m. The American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) is the parent organization to the Championship Cup Series (CCS), the largest amateur motorcycle road racing organization in the United States issuing over 3,000 licenses per year. ASRA promotes eight AMA sanctioned Sprint Series and eight AMA sanctioned Team Challenge road racing events for 2013. The CCS Series sanctions 45 events at popular tracks around the United States, including Daytona International Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Road America, Heartland Park, and Virginia International Raceway among other fine venues.
