KICKER returns to Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship TORONTO, ON (June 22, 2012) The ‘Kick’ will be back in the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship this summer. KICKER Performance Audio has returned as the sponsor of the KICKER Kick-Ass Pass of the Race Award in the Pro Superbike class. At each event in the 2012 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship, CSBK media staff will determine which rider made the KICKER Kick-Ass Pass of the Race and the award winner will receive an iK501 iPhone/iPod Dock valued at $300. The winning pass will be based on the most exciting and safest pass of the race. “Racing in the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship is some of the closest and most dramatic competition in motorsport,” said Kevin Graham of series organizer Frontline CSBK Inc. “We are delighted to have KICKER Performance Audio return as a series sponsor and to recognize the riders who help provide the thrills our spectators come to see.” This is the second year for the KICKER Kick-Ass Pass of the Race Award. Last year’s winners included Francis Martin, Alex Welsh, Frank Trombino, Jordan Szoke, Jodi Christie, Brett McCormick and Matt McBride. McCormick took the honour for his daring move past Szoke on the last lap of the sixth round of the Pro Superbike Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, which secured the race win and the series title for the Saskatoon rider. “Last season’s racing was some of the best in Canadian Superbike racing history,” added Graham, “and the KICKER Kick-Ass Pass of the Race Award recognized daring and drama right through the field. It brought some added recognition to riders who showed real determination, even if they weren’t battling for first place.” KICKER Performance Audio products are designed and manufactured by Stillwater Designs, headquartered in Stillwater, OK. The firm began in 1973 as a two-person operation, hand-building professional sound and musical instrument speaker systems for churches, auditoriums, and entertainers. Building upon the success of the Original KICKER, the company concentrated on the mobile-audio market, applying the same successful research and design skills to the development of a complete line of high-performance components for car audio. This year’s Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship opens this weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park and concludes with a doubleheader at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park August 24-26.
