The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA Tour golf championships final round at Pebble Beach was canceled today due to the inclement weather. Three-time motorcycle World Champion and Legend of Laguna Seca Kenny Roberts SR. with his team mate, professional golfer Mark Calcavecchia never made it out to the greens today. Sunday’s weather was ominous from the start. Raging wind that toppled a 40-foot pine and rain that formed puddles on the greens forced the PGA TOUR to postpone the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, giving it a Monday finish for the first time since 2000. Tee times first were delayed by two hours when a steady overnight rain soaked Pebble Beach. Officials decided to cancel the final round of the pro-am, meaning there would not be any amateurs competing. That was done to reduce the field — 68 pros made the cut — with hopes they could finish on Sunday. Tee times were pushed back another hour to redo the pairings, then three more hours after winds continued to knock down tents and the rains returned. No one teed off, and there is no guarantee that the final round for the professionals will be played Monday, when the forecast is for more rain and wind. PRO-AM TEAM WINNERS With the amateur portion of the event canceled in order to reduce the size of Sunday’s field, two teams will share the pro-am team title. Dustin Johnson, the 54-hole leader, and his amateur partner Joe Rice, an attorney from Charleston, S.C., finished tied at 193 with pro Chris Stroud and his partner Ron Christman, the co-founder of nGenera who is from Kingwood, Texas. Rice is a 17 handicap, while Christman is an 18 handicap. And the low celebrities? That would be actor Chris O’Donnell (paired with pro Kevin Chappell) and motorcycle racer Kenny Roberts (paired with Calcavecchia). Both teams were among a group of teams tied for sixth. O’Donnell has a 7 handicap; Roberts is a 5 handicap.
