‘King’ Kenny Roberts Guests on the Dave Despain Show

Corona, CA (June 13, 2014) – On Sunday, June 22 at 8 p.m. ET, motorcycle ace Kenny Roberts is Dave’s guest on the Dave Despain Show. To motorcycle fans throughout the USA and around the world Roberts is considered the best all-around road racer and dirt tracker of all time. He was the first American to win a 500cc Grand Prix Motorcycle World Championship (in fact he won three of them ’78, 79, 80) and was a two time winner of the AMA Grand National Championship including the AMA Grand Slam – representing Grand National disciplines at a mile, short-track and TT Steeplechase on dirt, as well as numerous road races including the Daytona 200.

Born in Modesto, California, Roberts contributions to the sport of motorcycle racing are legendary including, adapting his dirt track riding style to pavement thereby permanently changing the riding style of all future road racers, lobbying for increasing safety standards, managing his own Grand Prix team and ushering in an almost two decade long stream of former American dirt trackers who went on to win 500cc Grand Prix World Championships including Eddie Lawson, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz and his son, Kenny Roberts, Jr. In 2000, Known as ‘the Martian’ while racing in Europe and the ‘King’ in the USA, Roberts was named a Grand Prix Legend by the FIM.
