TORONTO, ON (May 8, 2012) – K&N Performance Filters will be the title sponsor for the 2012 Pro Sport Bike class in the MOPAR Canadian Superbike Championship, announced Kevin Graham of series organizers Frontline CSBK Inc. A series supporter since 2010, K&N will move their support to the category widely, if unofficially, known as the “National 600 class.” “K&N prides itself in supporting the young and up-and-coming racers in all forms of motorsports,” explained Johnny Jump, the Brand Manager of K&N Engineering. “Getting behind their racing efforts drives K&N and helps us to provide a place to prove their talents.” “K&N are very excited to support a category of competition at this level, driving the growth of racing and developing tomorrow’s heroes. K&N works day-in and day-out with top level race teams to provide the maximum performance advantage using K&N’s purpose built RACE-SPEC High-Flow Air Filters and our Wrench-Off Oil Filters.” Canadian National competitors are allowed to use after-market air filters in order to increase performance. Rules standards such as this, combined with specific requirements for minimum weights, Dyno performance and control tires ensure close, competitive racing while keeping costs relatively low. “We are very proud to keep the K&N name aligned with the Canadian National Series, thanks to their support for the Pro Sport Bike class,” said Graham. “Organizations, who are active in racing world-wide, such as K&N, help to make our series possible.” In 2011, Keene, ON based third year Pro competitor Jodi Christie, a former Amateur Sport Bike class National Champ, won the Pro Sport Bike division aboard a Honda CBR600RR. CSBK veteran Christie, age 19, earned the right to carry the number one plate in K&N Pro Sport Bike competition in 2012. The 2012 Canadian Superbike Championship opens on Thursday, June 7 at Shannonville Motorsport Park east of Belleville, ON, with the official pre-season test event.
