KTM goes to the 2011 IDM German International championships with three officially supported teams and three top riders – Martin Bauer, Stefan Nebel and Matej Smrz onboard the 1190 RC8 R going for the title. With the decision to supply two Superbike teams with the KTM 1190 RC8R for the top class of road racing, the Austrian brand sends a strong message about its racing commitment on asphalt. Following on from the very successful current season – Martin Bauer and Stefan Nebel fought for a total of four victories to finished third and fourth in the championship standings – KTM has decided to send three riders in two officially factory supported teams of the same status to race in the competition. MOTOREX KTM SUPERBIKE TEAM The Austrian Martin Bauer (34) starts in 2011 for the Motorex KTM Superbike Team, which is to be led by technician and team manager Konrad Hefele. The two 1190 RC8R Superbikes, fitted with Dunlop tires will be prepared and maintained at Hefele’s workshop on Ainhofen in Bavaria, Southern Germany. The team has managed to attract the brand Motorex as the main sponsor. The Swiss specialist brand for oil and lubricants, which is among KTM’s most important partners and which has been a supplier for many years in all series and racing motorcycles has decided to be the title sponsor and with the introduction of its new »Motorex Racing Line« will introduce the well known Motorex green as an additional color to the IDM. Team boss Konrad Hefele: 2011 showed that we are capable of fighting for the title. In the coming year we’ll be on the start and going on the attack with Martin Bauer and a modified team structure. I see it as a positive thing that KTM, with two equally supported teams will be more strongly represented in every way.” INGHART KTM SUPERBIKE TEAM The second team supported by the Mattighofen (Austria) factory in the IDM Championship is the Inghart KTM Superbike Team. With this one of the most successful and best IDM Superbike teams is also onboard the KTM 1190 RC8 R. At the handlebars of the two cylinder racer will be Stefan Nebel (29), who has accompanied the development of the RC8 right from the beginning, as well as Matej Smrz, both winning competitors. The 26-year-old Czech rider will ride for victory on the Superbike twin for the first time. With experience of a complete IDM season in the Inghart Team and with very good results – twice on the podium in the last three IDM races – he has the best credentials for a positive season at Inghart KTM. There will be agreement among all three riders in all matters of technical support. All motorcycles represent the very latest in technological development. Inghart KTM has also secured Dunlop and motorcycle clothing specialist “4SR” as important partners of the project, which will run for at least two years. Inghart KTM Team Boss Ingo Härtel, We have been an official representative of KTM in Königswinter (Germany) since 2009, so it was almost an obvious thing that we should have a new team. Naturally we want to represent and win with the same brand for which we are a dealer. With the 1190 RC8 R KTM has in the recent years proved that this is possible. With Stefan Nebel and Matej Smrz as our riders as well as the official support from the KTM factory we have achieved the best possible conditions. We will prepare the team in the best possible way and we are already looking forward to the start of the first races in 2011.
