Smith joins CIA Landlords Insurance Honda

RACE winner Kyle Smith will challenge for the 2016 World Supersport Championship with the British based CIA Landlords Insurance Honda team.

Kyle signed for CIA Landlords Insurance Honda at Qatar on Saturday and then went on to win the race the next day. He finished fifth in the World Championship on his first attempt and is targeting the title in 2016.

Kyle said: “I am delighted to be racing for CIA Landlords Insurance Honda in the 2016 World Supersport Championship. I signed with the team and then finished this season with a win, which sets me up for a great winter. I can’t wait to get my first ride on the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda and the 2016 season starts now for me – I want to be challenging for the title.”

Kyle, 24, from Huddersfield in the UK but now living in Spain, raced for the Pata Honda team in 2015 so will be right up to speed on the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda CBR600RR race bike he will use in 2016.

CIA Landlords Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “We had been in discussions with Honda for some time about Kyle joining our team. It was good to complete the deal on Saturday night and Kyle celebrated by going out and winning the race the next day. He knows the Honda CBR600RR and will fit very well with the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda team. We have high hopes together and can’t wait to get racing with him and see what we can achieve.”

CIA Landlords Insurance Honda will make further announcements on rider selection shortly.
