TOOELE, Utah (June 24) — Millennium Technologies/KWR rider Kyle Wyman suffered an accident last Friday while training on his Shimano-euipped Felt bicycle. Wyman plans to race at this coming weekend’s MotoAmerica event at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
Wyman was descending down Middle Canyon road in Tooele at 43mph when he struck a deer.
“It’s honestly just one of those things you don’t think about,” Kyle said. “I had just finished a 40-minute climb up to the top of the canyon and my ride was basically over. I could coast all the way back to the house I’m staying at. When I hit him I went over the bars and slid along the road they had just paved the day before. I’ve crashed at slower speeds on my road race bike, with full leathers. This was a rough one.”
Wyman suffered a large amount of road rash and bruising, but he says he’s confident in his chances this weekend at the Miller Motorsports Park circuit.
“It’s just a matter of taking the time to put on the proper dressing, and not letting it affect me mentally,” Wyman added. “I’m hoping I’ll be able to forget about it when I’m on the bike and focus on what’s important. No matter what, I’ll give it my best shot. My goal is still to finish in the top-5.”
Middle brother Travis Wyman will be competing in the Superstock 600 category again on his #24 Millennium Technologies/KWR Yamaha. Travis currently sits in 3rd in the series standings and hopes to keep his championship dreams alive.
“The guys up front are riding really well,” Travis said. “I know I’ll have to be on my game this weekend. Barber was just tough for us because we had a few mechanical issues. With those sorted out I know I can battle for wins this weekend and get maximum points.”
Action starts Friday morning, June 26th at 9:00 A.M. EST when the Superstock 600 class hits the track for first practice. All of the action can be viewed LIVE on Fanschoice.tv for video coverage.
