Jeff Lampe put his Kissimmee Motorsports Kawasaki ZX-10R on the top box, in the rain, during the Unlimited Grand Prix race for the first time during the CCS Florida Memorial Day races May 28 in Jupiter, Florida. Sean Dwyer took the holeshot lead on his West Side Performance Suzuki GSX-R1000 with Lampe, Ricardo Sune, and Felipe MacLean in pursuit. Dwyer led the first half of the race before being overtaken by Lampe, who almost immediately started to pull away. Lampe’s teammate, MacLean, who had maneuvered his ZX-10R around Sune’s Ducati 1098, also passed Dwyer and the two battled it out for second place. Lampe took the checkered flag with Dwyer and MacLean rounding off the top three. Lampe had crashed earlier in the day while chasing Dwyer in the GTO race and sat on the sidelines the rest of the day while his crew worked to get his machine back together for the grand finale. Meanwhile, Dwyer claimed his first victory of the day in the GTO class with MacLean close behind in second. The two finished the Unlimited Supersport race with the same combination of Dwyer taking the victory and MacLean in second. Steve Wenner dominated the lightweight classes and ended his day as the winningest racer, with four first place finishes. Wenner won the GT Lights, 125 Grand Prix, Lightweight Grand Prix, and Lightweight Formula 40 classes. CCS Florida’s next event is scheduled for June 23-24th at Homestead-Miami Speedway. UNLIMITED GRAND PRIX RESULTS: 1. Jeff Lampe (Kaw ZX-10R); 2. Sean Dwyer (Suz GSX-R1000); 3. Felipe MacLean (Kaw ZX-10R); 4. Ricardo Sune (Duc 1098); 5. Ken Wilson (Yam YZF-R1); 6. Andrew White (Suz GSX-R1000).
