Turner wins ROR-O, Walker wins ROR-U and 19 Class Records are set during MRA Round 6 at High Plains Raceway

The MRA returned to the North Course at High Plains Raceway for round 6 of the 2012 season. The North Course at High Plains consists of 9 turns and 1.83 miles of racing surface. The North configuration changes the character of the challenging High Plains circuit creating a fast, flowing section of track out of a section that is usually slow and technical. Round 6 is the second time that the MRA has used this configuration and it provided interesting racing for riders and spectators alike.

Dan Turner furthered his quest in the Race of the Rockies as he charged to a win in the ROR-O category on Sunday. Dan experienced some mechanical difficulties in practice that he was able to resolve before his races that day. With one round remaining the championship is within reach for the current second place rider, Doug Kahl. In ROR-U Shannon Moham had his hands full with Kelcey Walker, a visiting rider from New Mexico. Kelcey eventually found a way around Shannon and took the ROR-U victory.

This is the second time this season that the MRA has used the north course configuration at HPR and once the riders started to figure it out, records began to fall. 19 out of 26 classes of racing saw the lap record fall this weekend, many of them changing hands multiple times during each of the races. The MRA is a community of people that share the common passion of racing motorcycles. Emphasizing the camaraderie that exists within the organization, several riders banded together after the racing concluded on Saturday to host a fundraising bicycle race and silent auction for a racer that was injured at round 5. Special thanks to out to Joe LoGalbo, David Mobley and all the MRA members, friends and family that participated.

Kids 12 and under as well as military personnel and public safety personnel are welcome to attend our events free of charge! 2 for 1 gate entry tickets are available at motorcycle shops all along the front range of Colorado.
