SLCC Trustee Gail Miller Named 2012 ATHENA Winner Salt Lake Community College Trustee Gail Miller has been named the 2012 ATHENA Award recipient. Miller will officially be presented the award at the 36th Annual Salt Lake Chamber Women’s Business Center American Express Women & Business Conference and Wells Fargo ATHENA Award luncheon in November. “Gail Miller is an exceptional role model for all women in this country. She generously gives of her time, wisdom, and resources to promote healthy communities, grounded in education and free enterprise,” SLCC President Cynthia Bioteau said. “Gail’s work as co-chair of Salt lake Community College’s board of trustees embodies both of these traits. The newest deserved honor of Athena continues to magnify the remarkable woman she is.” Miller actively supports a variety of women’s issues, including health and wellness issues for women and children, and college access for women. Gail Miller is the owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and serves as chairman of the organization’s advisory board. She is actively engaged in the company’s operation, including the administration of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation. Miller follows Beverley Taylor Sorenson, who was honored with the ATHENA Award in 2011. Other recent recipients include Utah State Senator Pat Jones, former Utah Governor Olene Walker, and SLCC President Cynthia Bioteau, who received the award in 2010.
