LB Racing Takes Overall ASRA Team Challenge Victory At New Jersey Motorsports Park

Round Seven ASRA Team Challenge Series Sanctioned by AMA New Jersey Motorsports Park September 8, 2013 LB Racing Ends Drought at NJMP Thunderbolt Millville, NJ – After several frustrating mechanical failures in the previous events, it was LB Racing’s Lloyd Bayley finally taking a win in the AMA sanctioned ASRA Team Challenge at NJMP Thunderbolt. When a red flag ended the race after 84 of the 88 scheduled laps, it was Bayley in first, Chester Auto Repair’s Eric Helmbach and Alex Shaw in second and TOBC 1000 ridden by Jon Couch and Seth Starnes in third Overall. The same teams were the podium finishers in the GTO class as well, with LB Racing and TOBC on Suzuki GSXR-1000’s and Chester Auto using a BMW S1000RR. The second place finish from Chester Auto Repair moved them into a 28 point lead for the 2013 Overall Team Challenge Championship over the RnR Repsol team and secured the 2013 ASRA Team Challenge GTO Championship with one round remaining. In the GTU class it was Christian Meekma’s XRay Racing team taking the win over Rick Begg’s RnR Repsol team by 0.3 seconds at the stripe. The RnR Racing entry finished third. The win allows XRay Racing to take a 16 point advantage over RnR Racing in the 2013 GTU Championship into the last round at Daytona. For the ASRA GTL class, David Hanig and his Rawspeed Racing crew won the by three laps over second place B&M Racing, followed by Todd Alberico’s TCS Racing team in third position. The win moves Rawspeed to within 9 points of class leading G-Baby Racing, setting up a classic Daytona showdown for the GTL championship. With three of the four 2013 ASRA Team Challenge Championships up for grabs, the 30th Annual CCS Race of Champions will be just that, a race for the championships. The final round will be October 18-21 at the famed Daytona International Speedway. The American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) is the parent organization to the Championship Cup Series (CCS), the largest amateur motorcycle road racing organization in the United States with 4,000 licensed riders. ASRA hosts eight AMA sanctioned ASRA Series and eight ASRA Team Challenge road racing events for 2013. The CCS Series sanctioned 45 events for 2013 at popular tracks around the United States. Tracks include Daytona International Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Homestead Miami Speedway, Heartland Park Topeka, and Virginia International among other fine venues. In 2013 ASRA and CCS provided riders with access to millions of dollars of sponsorship awards through participation in its sanctioned events.
